The public is invited June 12 to the annual meeting of Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park to hear an update about new developments at the park.

A project manager from the state parks staff will be on hand to outline the process of designing a new “destination” playground for 5- to 10-year-olds. Attendees will also learn about plans for the new bathhouse and new sand for Sunset Beach.

An update on the proposed projects that were submitted last summer will also be discussed.

Friends’ board members will give an overview of the group’s first year and its goals for the coming year.

The meeting will be a dessert potluck with beverages provided. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at the picnic shelter in the park.

I just had a question regarding the new sand at Sunset Beach. We frequent the beach quite a bit because we have Waverunners that we can drive up to the beach and let the kids switch on and off. It seems as though the beach was becoming super rocky and I was thrilled to read that there was a plan to put in new sand. Is this going ot be beack sand and when is to be finished?

    Thank you,
