The Sunset Elementary School second-grade class of Vicki Bergstrom walks around on a giant National Geographic map of North America looking for islands, lakes, peninsulas, gulfs and oceans June 4 during a stop on the Geographic Society’s Giant Traveling Maps program. The 35-by-26-foot map was spread out on the gym floor and gave students from throughout the school a chance to learn geography in an interactive way. Students took their shoes off to walk on the vinyl surface. Relative to the scale of the map, the second-graders were almost 1,000 miles tall. By Greg Farrar / The Issaquah Press
