Twin Cedars Winery, of Issaquah, received three top honors at the 2014 Seattle Wine Awards.

Its 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (Rattlesnake Hills) received a Double Gold, its 2011 Syrah (Red Mountain) took Gold and its 2013 Chardonnay (Snipes Mountain) received a Silver.

A small, local and family-based winery, Twin Cedars has produced limited-release wines for sale since 2011 — all handcrafted from grapes grown in Washington’s renowned wine-growing regions.

Since its first releases, the winery has received top awards and recognition for its wines from several Washington wine festivals and organizations.

Winemaker Rod Ahrens, wife Dona and family began producing and bottling wines for sale at their Tiger Mountain homestead in 2010. Their first white table wine, Rich Chardonnay, which received a Silver award from this year’s Seattle Wine Awards, was specially blended and released last summer to celebrate their daughter’s wedding.

The prestigious Seattle Wine Awards, judged by top local and national wine professionals, represents the highest recognition a winery can earn in the state of Washington.
