Reflection — The Beat gives teens a voice

Although I have not spent a long time with The Beat, the experience has been amazing.

The Beat has given me an opportunity to not only improve my skills as a writer, but to learn more about what it takes to create a newspaper. For the two editions I have been a part of, I have had a fantastic time, and I am ecstatic to begin writing again next year.

Writing for The Beat is fun. It has given me a chance to try new things as a journalist. It has presented new challenges, which have been difficult but ultimately rewarding. It has given me a chance to include my school in my articles.

The Beat is good because it allows the students of schools in the area to have a voice. It presents interesting thoughts and ideas to a wider audience. It acts as a conduit between generations by giving older readers a greater understanding of what teens believe and think today. The Beat is an essential part of our community and it has been amazing to become a part of it.

Next year, I want to continue what I have done this year. It is exciting to know that I’ll be able to write for The Beat for an entire year. Although the break from anything school-related this summer will be nice, I am excited to get back to school so I can begin writing for The Beat again next year.
