Cougar Mountain Academy, established in 1962, is a private non-denominational elementary school for Kindergarten through Grade 5 and Pre-Kindergarten. The Academy emphasizes excellence in education for high achieving and gifted students and promotes international academic standards in a multi-cultural setting. Creativity, independent thinking, self-confidence, leadership, public speaking, love of learning and the quest for personal excellence are promoted at every program level. A special emphasis is placed on a loving and nurturing environment to stimulate intellectual growth, academic achievement, self motivation, character development and overall excellence in education. The high caliber curriculum, delivered in a low student to teacher ratio, combined with the individualized, non-graded and non-competitive approach to learning enables each student to develop optimum potential.

Cougar Mountain Academy is situated next to Cougar Mountain Zoo, which gives the School a magical, next to nature quality. This central location provides convenient access from Bellevue, Newcastle, Issaquah, Sammamish, Mercer Island and surrounding communities.
