Issaquah business a semi finalist in competition

Issaquah’s Projected Talent, Inc., is one of 16 businesses in named a semi-finalist in Kitsap Bank’s inaugural edg3 FUND small business competition.

The mission of edg3 FUND is to recognize entrepreneurs dedicated to growing their community in three ways — economically, socially or environmentally. The bank received nearly 70 applications from entrepreneurs throughout Western Washington in industries ranging from food/beverages and tourism to arts, education and agriculture.

Farmers Market offers additional parking

Issaquah Farmers Market visitors can now park closer to the event.

The parking structure near the market, which has been under construction since early 2013, is now open according to a city press release.

Visitors can park on the first and second levels of the structure, which is on the Costco corporate campus adjacent to the market.

Signage will direct customers from the parking structure to the market. The city will provide a parking attendant to answer visitor questions Aug. 9.

Sound Transit to hold Aug. 12 open house

August 5, 2014

Sound Transit will present the future of transit in the Interstate 90 corridor Aug. 12.

The regional transit authority and King County will hold an open house from 6-8 p.m. at the Issaquah Hilton Garden Inn, 1800 N.W. Gilman Blvd., in order to discuss how transportation will develop on the Eastside. The presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

Future changes to the way transit crosses I-90 will include bus and light rail service connections at regional transit hubs, including the Mercer Island and South Bellevue stations.

Twin Cedars Winery wins Seattle Wine awards

Twin Cedars Winery, of Issaquah, received three top honors at the 2014 Seattle Wine Awards.

Its 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (Rattlesnake Hills) received a Double Gold, its 2011 Syrah (Red Mountain) took Gold and its 2013 Chardonnay (Snipes Mountain) received a Silver.

A small, local and family-based winery, Twin Cedars has produced limited-release wines for sale since 2011 — all handcrafted from grapes grown in Washington’s renowned wine-growing regions.

Robinson attended Penn State University and graduated in 2000 from Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Ga. He spent his first years of practice in western Maui before returning to practice in Pennsylvania.

Issaquah winery wins additional acclaim

Issaquah-based Tiger Mountain Winery received a Double-Gold Grand Award of Excellence for its 2012 Cuvée Noir (a Rhône-Style blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault).

The historic Arctic Club Hotel hosted the 2014 Seattle Wine Awards, featuring a world-class local, national and international tasting panel of wine professionals who tasted and evaluated hundreds of wines in a single blind format (meaning grape variety or wine style is known, but not vintage, price or producer) and recognized the top wines with Double Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze Grand Awards of Excellence.

Village Concepts, a third generation family-owned business that owns and operates retirement and assisted living communities throughout Washington state, including Issaquah’s Spiritwood at Pine Lake, was honored as a “Silver Winner” in the 2013 “Seattle Business” magazine’s Family Business Awards.

Village Concepts is one of the 13 family-owned businesses recognized in seven categories for their sense of responsibility, legacy, dedication and contribution to the local economy. Selected as a “Silver Winner” for large firms with more than 250 employees, Village Concepts was recognized at an awards gala Nov. 19.

Entrepreneur honored at Goddard School convention

Catherine Callan, of The Goddard School in Issaquah, joined more than 350 Goddard School franchisees at the company’s 2013 convention in Nashville, Tenn., to discuss the latest innovations and advancements for providing the highest quality, play-based educational childcare programs in a technology-driven age.

A highlight of the gathering was the award ceremony, where Callan received a business award.
