Local students make deans’ lists
- Nicole Migotsky, of Bellevue, was named to the dean’s list at Washington University in St. Louis for the fall 2012 semester. Migotsky graduated in 2012 from Issaquah High School, and is enrolled in the university’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
- Moua Vue, of Renton, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester by earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher at Concordia University, in St. Paul, Minn. Vue is a senior majoring in social studies secondary education.

Boy Scouts presents 2013 report to Olympia
On Feb. 27, the Boy Scouts of Washington presented its 2013 Report to the State in Olympia.
Twenty-one Eagle Scouts selected from the six state Boy Scout Councils went to the capitol representing a youth membership of 66,621 scouts.

Local student studies in Southeast Asia
Collin Morris, of Issaquah, spent January studying in Southeast Asia through a special program at Linfield College, in McMinnville, Ore.
Morris, a senior majoring in political science, is the son of Keesha Ewers and Richard Morris, of Issaquah. Morris took the class “From Colonialism to Globalism: Political Change in Southeast Asia from World War II to the Present.”

Liberty alum graduates from USC film school
Alexander Bell, son of Alex and Jayne Bell of Newcastle, graduated Cum Laude in December 2012 from the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Arts in cinematic arts, film and television production.

Bell, a 2009 graduate of Liberty High School and former Newcastle Diamond Award winner and Eagle Scout, was named to the dean’s list all semesters he attended USC and was able to graduate in 3 1/2 years. He is the second Liberty alum to graduate from the USC Film School in the past three years.

Local students graduate
- Lyndon Kidwell of Renton, graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology, in Rolla, Mo., during commencement ceremonies held Dec. 14, 2012. Kidwell earned a Master of Science degree in systems engineering.
- Kelle Agassiz, a 2009 graduate of Issaquah High School, graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a minor in communications in December 2012. She was also named to the fall 2012 semester dean’s list. To qualify, students must complete 12 or more credits and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Michael Lahey, of Issaquah, was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi — the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

To qualify, students must have completed at least 12 graded credits and have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (out of 4).

Issaquah student earns scholarship at UCSD
Kyle Bichich, of Issaquah, has received a $1,500 Jennifer Odom/David Kammerer Memorial Scholarship from the American Water Ski Educational Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee.
Bichich, a junior at the University of California, San Diego, majoring in structural engineering, is a barefoot competitor at the regional level, having volunteered at the Barefoot Water Ski World Championships, as well as the regionals and nationals.
