KC Cowen and Brian Ficken recently announced their engagement to be married on Nov. 3, 2012, in Seattle.
Surrounded by the peaks of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, Brian popped the question on a snowshoeing trip in February.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Bruce and Barb Cowen, of Issaquah. KC is a 2004 graduate of Issaquah High School and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in communications in 2008. She is employed at a local family foundation and resides in Seattle.
The future groom is the son of Dean and Kathy Ficken, of Bellevue. Brian graduated from Newport High School in 2003 and from Seattle Pacific University in 2007 with a degree in business, with a concentration in finance. He is employed with a financial advising firm in Bellevue.

Juliana Laughlin, of Milton, Wash., and Joseph Gavica, of Bonney Lake, announced their engagement to be married Jan. 12, 2013, at the Edgewood Bible Church, in Edgewood.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Keith and Stacy Laughlin, of Issaquah. Juliana is a 2005 graduate of Issaquah High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2008 from Seattle Pacific University. She works as a revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service.
The future groom is the son of Joe Gavica, of Reno, Nev., and Debbie Hughes, of Bonney Lake. Joseph is a 1999 graduate of West Auburn High School. He works as an apprentice electrician at Kanon Electric.

Lawrence J. and Suzanne D. McGowan, of Stevensville, Mont., announce the engagement of their daughter Natalie Suzanne McGowan to Liam David Shaw — son of William G. A. Shaw and Mary Beth Haggerty-Shaw, of Issaquah.
They will be piped and fiddled into matrimony at a Sept. 15 wedding by Scottish bagpiper Andrew Taylor and Irish violinist Brendon Haggerty. The celebration will take place at the engaged couple’s residence in Horse Canyon outside of Cle Elum.
Officiants will be Natalie McGowan’s uncle Jeffrey Harrison and Liam Shaw’s father William.
McGowan graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Montana State University and is an equine nutrition consultant with CHS Nutrition. Shaw graduated from Central Washington University with a geography degree and is a territory manager at New Zealand-based Gallagher Animal Management Solutions Inc.
The Shaws plan to live in Cle Elum with their growing menagerie of cattle, horses, chickens, dogs and cats.
The couple would like to thank their parents for their love and support and for their respective 29 and 30 years of marriage — great examples to set for a long and happy union.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Richard and Susan Wood, of Issaquah. She is a 2006 graduate of Issaquah High School. In 2010, Katherine earned a degree in psychology from Central Washington University. She is a case manager at the YWCA of Seattle.
The future groom is the son of Guy and Gail Di Re, of Kirkland. He is a 2005 graduate of Juanita High School. In 2009, Daniel earned a degree in accounting from Central Washington University. He works as an assistant supervisor at Chieftan Construction.

The bride-to-be, the daughter of Mark and Claudia Cote, of Issaquah, is a 2003 graduate of Skyline High School. She graduated from Western Washington University in 2007 and works as a program coordinator at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The future groom, the son of Dave and Judy Goldfarb, of Issaquah, also graduate from Skyline in 2003. He earned a degree at the University of Washington in 2006. He is the chief executive officer of WaSOUND.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Shari and Bill Roberts, of Renton, and Peter and Catherine Szilard, of Shoreline.
Julia is a 2004 graduate of Liberty High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Washington in 2008. She is working on her doctorate of physical therapy from the UW.
The future groom is the son of Rita and Uttam Chaudhuri, of Tacoma. He is a 2004 graduate of Curtis Senior High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the UW in 2008. He is a doctoral student in biomedical and health informatics at the UW.

The future groom, the son of Anne Devine, of Niantic, Conn., is a 1998 graduate of East Lyme High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in graphic communications in 2006 from Rhode Island College. He is a broadcast engineer at Fisher Communications.

Lauren Carter and Matt Frugé announce their engagement to be married Aug. 10, 2012, at Fort Worden in Port Townsend.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Bill and Teri Carter. She was raised in Ferndale and is a 2005 graduate of Ferndale High School. Lauren went on to honor college at Washington State University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in environmental science.
She works as a sustainability consultant for McKinstry, in Seattle.
The future groom is the son of Dwight and Linda Frugé, of Issaquah. Matt graduated from Liberty High School in 2001. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts from WSU in 2007 in hospitality business management.
He is employed as an air/sea agent for Holland America, in Seattle.
