Issaquah student earns honors at Williston
Anthony Mantz, of Issaquah, made the honor roll at Williston Northampton School for the second trimester of the 2012-13 school year.
Mantz is a junior attending the school in Easthampton, Mass.
Skyline student spends a week with a senator

Mackenzie O’Keefe, a junior at Skyline High School, spent a recent week working as a page for the Washington State Senate in Olympia.
O’Keefe was one of 19 students who served as Senate pages for the 2013 legislative session.
Sen. Rodney Tom sponsored O’Keefe for the week.
The Senate Page Program is an opportunity for Washington students to spend a week working in the Legislature. Pages are responsible for such tasks as transporting documents between offices as well as delivering messages and mail.
Pages spend time in the Senate chamber in addition to attending page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process.

Elementary school runs baby food drive
Upon learning that there was a need for baby food and formula, a Clark Elementary School parent brought the need to the student council and helped organize a food drive.
For about three weeks, children at Clark collected food for Eastside Baby Corner, according to a press release from a parent. The students, with the help of third-grade teacher Mary Rusk, collected 45 pounds of baby food and formula.

More than half of Eastlake DECA qualify for internationals
Members of the Eastlake DECA chapter, all students who attend Eastlake High School, competed in the Washington State DECA Competition in Bellevue, March 7-9.
A total of 57 students competed against DECA members from 11 chapters in Washington, and the Eastlake DECA chapter will send 20 students to Anaheim, Calif., for the international DECA competition in April.

Young poet earns national recognition
Skyline High School sophomore Niyathi Chakrapani received a silver medal for her poetry from the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Now in its 90th year, the Scholastic Alliance of Young Artists and Writers National Awards are given out annually in 28 categories of art and writing. Only about 1 percent of the teens from across the country who apply for scholarships and the chance to have their works exhibited or published are honored at the national level.

Spiritwood resident crochets Easter baskets
Spiritwood at Pine Lake’s Betty Vaughan crocheted more than 100 Easter baskets for Spiritwood residents.
Spiritwood staff members filled the baskets with Easter eggs and candy, and then delivered them to the residents and their families at Easter brunch.

Linda Baker and eve’ Martinez-Petrut, co-presidents of Issaquah Women’s Club, recently accepted the award for LifeWire (formerly the Eastside Domestic Violence Program) at a breakfast meeting to thank the organization for their continued support of LifeWire’s scholarshipprogram and contributions to assist women in transition. Former resident named managing editor

Garrett Rudolph, formerly of Issaquah, became managing editor of The Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle on March 1.
Rudolph spent the past five years as the sports editor of the Woodburn Independent in Woodburn, Ore.
