Local servicemen complete basic training
Air Force Airman Jack G. Boswell, the son of Amber Cory, of Renton, and Jack Boswell, of Phoenix, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Boswell, a 2007 graduate of Apache Junction High School in Arizona, completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Navy Seaman Dominic A. Custer, son of Ronna J. Custer, of Issaquah, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Custer, a 2009 graduate of Issaquah High School, completed a variety of training, including classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Issaquah resident graduates from Army basic training
Army Reserve Spec. Ihilani Powers has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, Powers studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. Powers is the daughter of Althea Dani, of Issaquah.
Powers graduated in 1996 from the Kamehameha Schools, Honolulu, Hawaii, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2000 from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Issaquah grad promoted to rear admiral
Captain Brett C. Heimbigner was recently selected for rear admiral in the U.S. Navy.
Heimbigner, the son of Cameron and Kris Heimbigner, of Sammamish, graduated from Issaquah High School in 1983.
Heimbigner joined the Navy immediately after graduating from the University of Washington in 1987. Over a 22-year career as an intelligence officer, he has deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq for more than 30 months with Special Operations Forces, where he was awarded the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star medals.
Heimbigner is the commanding officer of the Joint Intelligence Center, Central Command, under Gen. David Petraeus, in Tampa, Fla.
Heimbigner is married with two children.

Liberty grad arrives for duty at Fort Benning
Private Emma Lorenz, of Issaquah, has arrived for duty at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
Lorenz, the daughter of Jeff and Jan Lorenz, of Issaquah, is an instructor shooter assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. A 2009 graduate of Liberty High School, Lorenz has served in the military for less than one year.
