<p>Police responded to suspicious activity in the 23400 block of Southeast Black Nugget Road at 10:12 p.m. Jan. 24 after a man reported someone shining a flashlight into his bedroom window. He also told police he heard someone pushing against the window. The man turned on the bedroom light and the flashlight beam disappeared.</p>
<p><strong>Speed demon</strong></p>
<p>Police stopped a 16-year-old Sammamish boy for reckless driving after he drove 70 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 23500 block of Southeast 24th Street at about 6:40 p.m. Jan. 25. Police contacted the boy’s mother, and she told the officer her son needed to re-attend a driver’s education class and pay for the class himself.</p>
<p><strong>Pot or not</strong></p>
<p>Police disposed of about 3 grams of marijuana after stopping a Bellevue man in the 800 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast on Jan. 26. The man had a medical marijuana card, but the license expired in November, so the officer confiscated the marijuana.</p>
<p><span id="more-65567"></span><strong>Private eye</strong></p>
<p>Police contacted a Sammamish woman after she drove over a planter strip in the 3300 block of Issaquah-Pine Lake Road Southeast on Jan. 26. The collision damaged the underside of her vehicle, causing it to leak transmission fluid. She told the officer she believed she had been followed and her vehicle had been bugged with surveillance devices.</p>

<p>Police cited and released a 30-year-old Issaquah man for driving with a suspended license in the 4900 block of Issaquah-Pine Lake Road Southeast on Jan. 28. The officer observed the man driving 53 mph in a 35 mph zone.</p>

<p>A computer program, cellphone charger, GPS unit and garage door opener were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 2100 block of Shy Bear Way Northwest before 9:03 a.m. Jan. 30. The estimated loss is $450.</p>

<p><span id="more-65196"></span><strong>Too young to drive</strong></p>
<p>Police cited a 15-year-old girl for reckless driving and driving without a license after getting a vehicle stuck in the 24700 block of Windsor Boulevard on Jan. 14. She said a friend let her take his car out for a drive, but the vehicle had a manual transmission, and the young motorist did not know how to operate a stick shift. She then lost control of the vehicle as she attempted to shift from first to second gear. The vehicle came to rest in the yard. The driver and passengers attempted to remove the car, but only damaged the homeowners’ precipitation-saturated lawn in the process. The parents of the driver and passengers agreed to cover the landscaping repair costs.</p>
<p><strong>The War of the Roses</strong></p>
<p>A Sammamish resident told police he suspected his estranged wife of entering his home Jan. 16, despite a no-contact order between them. The man said personal items had been riffled through, but no items of value had been taken. He said the suspect appeared to have entered by using a keypad code.</p>
<p><strong>Unable to locate</strong></p>
<p>A window was damaged on, and a GPS unit was stolen from, a vehicle parked in the 19800 block of Southeast 32nd Street before Jan. 17.</p>
<p><strong>A bang-up job</strong></p>
<p>A handgun, cellphone, amplifier and clothing were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 24500 block of Southeast Windsor Boulevard before Jan. 17.</p>
<p><strong>Unwelcome</strong></p>
<p>Police observed as a Kingston woman received items from her sister’s Sammamish residence Jan. 17. The sister told police the woman “overstayed her welcome” at the home and needed to leave. The sister also told police several personal items had gone missing.</p>
<p><strong>Not Santa Claus</strong></p>
<p>A resident in the 200 block of 247th Place Northeast said she heard a person in the backyard at about 8 p.m. Jan. 20. The next morning she noticed footprints in the snow. The tracks indicated a person had gone from window to window. Police located similar footprints near other homes in the neighborhood, but officers could not decipher a shoe pattern from the prints.</p>

<p>Police cited and released a 30-year-old Bellevue man for driving with a suspended license in the 1300 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard at 11:16 a.m. Jan. 21.</p>

<p><strong>Driving under the influence</strong></p>
<p>Police arrested a 26-year-old Renton man for driving under the influence, reckless driving and obstructing a law enforcement officer after police stopped his vehicle near the corner of Southeast 12th Way and 268th Avenue Southeast at about 3 a.m. Dec. 31. The officer recorded the man driving 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. The man turned the vehicle&#8217;s lights off and quickly turned onto residential streets to attempt to evade the officer.</p>
<p><strong>Unlucky</strong></p>
<p>Police arrested a 20-year-old Sammamish woman for driving with a suspended license at Southeast Fourth Street and 228th Avenue Southeast at about 10 p.m. Dec. 31. The officer stopped the woman for not having a rear license plate on her vehicle. Her license had been suspended after she failed to pay a ticket in Nevada, though she told police she had paid it. Police noticed the odor of marijuana in the car and the woman turned over a marijuana pipe.</p>

The residents said they had received several notes on the door and mail from collection agencies directed to the previous tenant.</p>

<p>Police arrested a 22-year-old North Bend man for reckless driving after driving a dirt bike at a high rate of speed on East Lake Sammamish Parkway. Police witnessed the dirt bike speed down the road at a speed faster than the speed limit. The officer followed the bike to a home in the 3800 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast.</p>

<p>Police arrested a 19-year-old Bellevue man for driving under the influence near the corner of Southeast 16th Street and 228th Avenue Southeast at about 2 a.m. Dec. 23. Police said he had been driving 75 mph in a 40 mph zone. The man smelled of marijuana and told the officer he had been driving fast “because it was fun.”</p>
<p><strong>Domestic violence</strong></p>
<p>Police arrested a 37-year-old Sammamish man for domestic violence Dec. 25 after his wife told police he punched her. She told police that she had attempted to barricade herself inside a bathroom because she was afraid of her husband. He then forced his way inside and they started to fight. The man said she had struck him with a phone first, prompting him to punch her in retaliation.</p>
<p><strong>Finders’ keepers</strong></p>
<p>A resident in the 21200 block of Northeast Sixth Street said men were preparing to rob his neighbor’s home at about 9:30 p.m. Dec. 27. The man reported seeing a black Ford with a trailer parked outside the neighbor’s vacant home. The men told the resident the house was abandoned, and they believed the items inside to be free. The caller recorded the Ford’s license plate information for police.</p>

Several teenagers then exited the vehicle. Police contacted the driver, and she told the officer she wished he were dead. She also smelled of alcohol. Police said a vehicle occupant said the group drank vodka from a water bottle and left for Seattle to go clubbing, but returned to Sammamish because they could not locate the nightclub.</p>

<p>Police cited an 18-year-old Sammamish man for possession of marijuana and making false statements to police after running from police near QFC, 2902 228th Ave. S.E., at about 3 a.m. Dec. 7. The officer responded to a report of several teens loitering behind the store late at night. Police confronted the group, and the teenagers scattered. Later, another officer stopped the Sammamish man at a nearby apartment complex.</p>
<p><strong>Designated driver</strong></p>
<p>Police cited a 33-year-old Sammamish man for driving with a suspended license near 228th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 18th Street on Dec. 7. The officer said the man smelled of alcohol, but the man provided a portable breath test to show him to be under the legal limit for driving. His license had been suspended for unpaid tickets.</p>
<p><strong>The hunger games</strong></p>
<p>Police removed a teenager from QFC, 2902 228th Ave. S.E., Dec. 7 after he or she loitered near the store several times after shoplifting from the grocer.</p>

<p>Police arrested Issaquah teenagers for theft after stealing headphones from Bartell Drugs, 526 228th Ave. N.E., Dec. 7.</p>

<p>A construction trailer and tools were stolen in the 19900 block of Southeast 19th Street on Dec. 7. Police later noticed deep ruts in the gravel road shoulder, indicating the suspects dragged the trailer from the premises. The estimated loss is $20,000.</p>

<p>Police arrested a 26-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence and failure to stop for a police officer along 228th Avenue Southeast at about 3:20 a.m. Nov. 26. Police recorded the vehicle at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.</p>
<p><strong>Driving under the influence</strong></p>
<p>Police arrested a 59-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence at Northeast Sixth Street and 228th Avenue Northeast at about 3:20 a.m. Nov. 27. The officer followed the man down 228th Avenue Northeast as he drove in the middle of the roadway, ignoring the lane markings. The man later told the officer that straddling the lanes is lawful because no other motorists were on the road, and the maneuver is better for road maintenance.</p>
<p><strong>Shop and stop</strong></p>
<p>Sammamish residents said they had been duped in a secret shopper scam online. They had been hired as secret shoppers at local stores. Then, their apparent employer sent them several checks and told them to wire money to the Philippines, as well as their reports on stores. They cashed several checks and sent the money before their bank said the checks were fake. The estimated loss is more than $5,000.</p>
<p><span id="more-62501"></span><strong>Damaged goods</strong></p>
<p>A Sammamish woman said her ex-boyfriend broke the windows out of a vehicle the couple owned and left the vehicle in front of her home Nov. 27. She said she and the ex-boyfriend had broken up several months earlier, but that the man recently started calling and texting her in the middle of the night. Police contacted the ex-boyfriend after the vehicle incident. He said someone broke into the vehicle in Seattle and he had the vehicle returned to his ex-girlfriend because it is registered in her name and she needed to handle the insurance issues.</p>
<p><strong>Lost</strong></p>
<p>A GPS unit was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 22900 block of Southeast 25th Place before Nov. 28.</p>
<p><strong>Stopped</strong></p>
<p>Police cited a 20-year-old Sammamish man for driving with a suspended license and without insurance in the 600 block of 228th Avenue Northeast on Nov. 30.</p>

<p>Police responded to a citizen request in the 5300 block of Highlands Drive Northeast after a bicyclist complained about a homeowner’s garbage cans being placed on the sidewalk. He said the cans should be placed by the sidewalk because he likes to ride his bike there. The officer said he should not be riding on the sidewalk, and said it’s customary for people to place garbage cans on the sidewalk for pickup.</p>
<p><strong>Smoked</strong></p>
<p>Police arrested a boy for stealing cigarettes from the Shell gas station, 15 E. Sunset Way, at 12:43 a.m. Dec. 3.</p>
<p><strong>Swerve</strong></p>
<p>Police investigated a hit-and-run accident in the 20600 block of Northeast 11th Street on Dec. 3 after a motorist hit a plastic flowerpot supporting a mailbox. The motorist also struck a nearby pole protecting a fire hydrant.</p>
<p><strong>Halted</strong></p>
<p>Police cited and released a 31-year-old Seattle man for driving with a suspended license in the 100 block of Second Avenue Northeast at 3:25 p.m. Dec. 3.</p>

<p>Police arrested a 17-year-old Issaquah girl for driving under the influence in the 23400 block of Southeast 42nd Street at about 11 p.m. Nov. 21. The officer caught the girl driving 57 mph in a 35 mph zone. She admitted to drinking alcohol and smelled of alcohol. Police released her into the custody of her parents.</p>

<p>A window was damaged on a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of 200th Avenue after a vandal threw a rock through the window before Nov. 22.</p>
<p><strong>Oh, deer</strong></p>
<p>Police euthanized a deer near the corner of Southeast Duthie Hill Road and 266th Avenue Southeast on Nov. 22. The deer suffered serious injuries after a passing vehicle hit the animal.</p>

<p>A student at Skyline High School, 1122 228th Ave. S.E., said another student stabbed him with a pencil and bit him while they were on the school bus Nov. 22. The student had several puncture wounds from the pencil attack.</p>

<p>Police arrested a 29-year-old Issaquah man for assault in the 900 block of First Avenue Northeast at 11:53 a.m. Nov. 23.</p>

<p>Police responded to a possible drug problem in the 100 block of West Sunset Way at 3:18 p.m. Nov. 23. The caller said a child might be doing drugs in a bathroom stall. Police did not notice any suspicious activity at the scene.</p>

<p>Police arrested a 22-year-old Issaquah woman for driving under the influence, a controlled-substances violation and possession of drug paraphernalia in the 1000 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard at 9:03 p.m. Nov. 23.</p>

<p>Police arrested a 19-year-old man for being a minor in possession of alcohol and obstructing in the 100 block of Mount Pilchuck Avenue Southwest at 12:10 a.m. Nov. 24.</p>
