Marilyn Joan Grette

Marilyn Joan Grette, of Sammamish, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. She was 87 years of age.

Marilyn was born on Feb. 23, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Emanuel and Dagmar Burke. She graduated in 1945 from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis.

She was married in Wenatchee to Olaf Grette, also of Minneapolis, in December 1949. Their four children were born in South Bend, Wash., where they lived until 1963. They left many dear friends in South Bend, settling in 1965 into a home on the Pine Lake plateau, where they made new friends and have lived now for 49 years.

Marilyn was known as Bug by her sweetheart Olaf and as Mimi to several grandchildren. A devoted wife and mother, she was also an artist and avid gardener. She loved cooking, hiking and skiing.

A graveside service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 S.E. 240th St., Kent, WA 98042, on Friday, May 30, at 11:30 a.m. A gathering at the family home in Issaquah will follow.

Gram, Phoebe Katherine Stonebridge, and Gramp, Harold William “Pod” Stonebridge passed away in their 98th year. They were born 6 weeks apart in 1915 and died three weeks apart in 2014. Neither went quietly; both fought to the end, Pod even saying at one point that he would outlive Phoebe so he could get the checkbook back! They were married for 77 years.

Born in San Francisco, Sandra “Sandy” Palmer was the only child of Dorraine June Elgin and Ralph Somers Roy. She was raised in San Rafael, Calif., and graduated from Sir Francis Drake High School, then attended the College of Marin, where she met her first husband, Orville Hubbard. They moved north to Seattle, where Sandy was employed by The Boeing Co.

Sandy moved to High Point, Issaquah, in 1962 with her second husband, Robert Hanson. They raised three children there. She was also a member of High Point Mission Church.

Lucy Ann Bair

Lucy Ann Bair, a longtime Issaquah resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Feb. 27, 2014. She was 71.

Lucy is survived by her three children, Ron Bair and his wife Kim, Melanie Shinn and her husband Mike, and Robin Mickelson and her husband Craig, as well as her 10 grandchildren.

Lucy enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandchildren.

Lucy was loved and will be missed by all.

We lost our beloved Brett after his brave, near-year battle with a rare cancer. He passed away on March 4, 2014, just one month after his 52nd birthday.

Brett leaves behind his heartbroken family: wife and soulmate Suzanne (Issaquah); daughters Caitlin and Sarah; parents Dena and Gary Roberts (Bellevue); brother Bryan and sister-in-law Laine Seeley (Bellevue); in-laws Carole and Howard Hinck (Beaverton, Ore.); sister- and brother-in-law Stephanie and Curt Hinck (Beaverton, Ore.); nephews Henry Roberts, Trevor and Tyler Hinck; nieces Kathryn Roberts and Lindsey Hinck; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends and colleagues.

Kyle died peacefully in his sleep the morning of March 10, 2014, at the age of 30. He was born in Redmond on Oct. 5, 1983.

Kyle is survived by his parents Mike and Marcia Delabarre, and his brother Kevin and his family. He is also survived by his grandmothers Margaret Delabarre and Virginia Addington, his uncles Mark and Mitch, aunt Sharon, numerous cousins and a multitude of friends.

Derek ‘Chip’ Hansen

Derek “Chip” Hansen was born April 13, 1970, and died suddenly March 8, 2014, from a duty-related injury.

Officer Hansen graduated from Liberty High School in 1988, where he played both rugby and football. He attended Central Washington University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Law and Justice.

He served in the U.S. Army for three years. After the Army, he graduated from the Police Academy and served as a police officer both in Zillah and Wapato for 15 years, where he earned many honors for his work.

Survivors include his wife Lucille, of Issaquah, his son Paul, of Bothell, and numerous extended family members and friends.
