It’s not as though the Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team had a poor 2013 season, but there wasn’t the same chemistry that carried the squad to the World Series in 2012.
Lakeside Recovery finished with a 10-2 record in Northwest League games last season, but was eliminated at the state tournament in July. The reason, longtime head coach Rob Reese said, is there weren’t enough leaders on a relatively inexperienced roster.
“We lost a lot of guys off the World Series team,” Reese said. “We had a few guys back, but they weren’t too vocal. And now they’ve grown up a little bit.”

Issaquah uses timely hitting for 7-3 victory
After scoring two early runs, the Issaquah Eagles had trouble getting more offensive production.
Trailing 3-2 in the fifth inning, though, Issaquah used some patient at-bats to draw walks and drive in runs. The Eagles pushed across two runs to take the lead, then added three insurance runs in the sixth for a 7-3 victory against the visiting Woodinville Falcons in a Class 4A KingCo Conference baseball game on April 18.

Sloppy defense plagues Patriots
As second-year Liberty High School fastpitch coach Zach Bartholomew analyzed the Patriots’ 6-5 loss to Juanita on April 2, he pointed to one inning.
In a game of numbers, one sloppy inning is all it takes to seal the fate of a team, and it was the top of Liberty’s third inning that proved costly.
