Contaminated soil found at Overlake Center site

Workers are taking steps to prevent groundwater contamination after old tires and a leaky metal drum were unearthed at a construction site along East Lake Sammamish Parkway.
City Public Works Engineering Director Bob Brock said city officials took precautions because the debris was uncovered near a well that serves the Overdale neighborhood. Debris had not contaminated the well, he said.
“You want to take extra steps to preclude anything from happening,” he added.

Overlake Hospital Medical Center announced Nov. 12 that its Medical Center Issaquah would move to new quarters in the soon-to-be-built Overlake Center at 5728 E. Lake Sammamish Parkway.
The news had been expected since August, when details of the project were presented to the Development Commission.
Overlake’s Medical Center Issaquah will be the anchor tenant, leasing 9,300 square feet for its Urgent Care Clinic, Anticoagulation Clinic, Breast Health and Women’s Services, primary care physicians’ offices and a classroom. Read more
