ArtEAST hosts opening reception for collage exhibit tomorrow

An opening reception for artEAST’s new exhibition “Layered Stories,” featuring the work of collage artists Anne La Fever and Liz Ruest, is from 6-8 p.m. July 23 at Blakely Hall, 2550 N.E. Park Drive.

A talk by the artists is at 7 p.m. The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 7.

Both artists share a common desire to create work containing compelling images that tell a story to the viewer. La Fever and Ruest use different methods to arrive at their final imagery, yet both artists’ work invites viewers to take a closer look and interpret the meaning for themselves.

Donegan and Rigby take the beauty of the traditional crafts of lacemaking and felting, and translate them into 21st century art.

The opening reception is from 6-8 p.m. May 29 at the artEAST Art Center, 95 Front St. N. Join the conversation and hear from the artists at 7 p.m. July 16.

Crossing Threads is on display through July 26.

Local artist perpetrates acts of creativity, hosts discussion

“Perpetrating Acts of Creativity” is the theme for Issaquah artist Pamela K. Beer’s fine art show from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 22 in the offices of Northstone Real Estate.

Beer will give a short talk about the inspiration for her work at 6 p.m. The public is invited to the show and reception at 1495 N.W. Gilman Blvd., No. 16.

Beer’s art has been exhibited at Northstone Real Estate since late June and will be on display for the public through the end of September. “Perpetrating Acts of Creativity” is Beer’s first solo exhibition. Beer describes her work as, “abstract acrylic on canvas art.”

University House hosts textured art exhibit

“Surface Treatment,” a new exhibit that focuses on textured art and trompe l’oeil technique, is open to the public through the end of the year at University House Issaquah, 22975 S.E. Black Nugget Road.

The exhibit is headlined by Seattle-based artist Mark O’Connell, an Emilio Pucci Design Scholarship Recipient, whose prized work has toured with Teatro Zinzani and helped nonprofits like PONCHO fund established and emerging art organizations.

O’Connell displays three key pieces including “Helen,” a portrait of his grandmother, and “Daniel,” a portrait of his grandfather. The individual grandparent portraits were painted from a photo taken on their wedding day.

Sammamish Arts Fair is Oct. 12-13

The seventh annual Sammamish Arts Fair is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 12-13 at Sammamish City Hall and Library, 801 228th Ave. S.E., Sammamish.

The free Sammamish Arts Fair features some of the best jury-selected local artists, including 17 from Sammamish.
