Healthy Youth Initiative seeks youth reps

The Issaquah Schools Foundation’s Healthy Youth Initiative is seeking youth representatives for the 2015-2016 school year.

The deadline for applications is Aug. 17. Applicant orientations will be conducted between Aug. 18 and the first day of school.

The Healthy Youth Initiative is a program that supports healthy life choices and growth opportunities for students and families in the Issaquah School District. This initiative focuses primarily on three areas: preventing and reducing youth substance abuse; preventing youth suicide and supporting youth mental health; and lowering barriers to academic success experienced by financially challenged youths and families.

Youth representatives and volunteers are welcome to participate in all groups within the Healthy Youth Initiative. Read more

Drug Free Community Coalition cuts ties with program coordinator

The Drug Free Community Coalition Executive Board and Project Coordinator Liz Wilhelm have mutually and amicably agreed to dissolve their contractual relationship, effective immediately.

The board is collaborating with Wilhelm to ensure a smooth transition for the coalition’s future work, according to a news release from the coalition.

In the interim, Dianne Bugge and Barbara de Michele will share the position to keep the coalition moving forward on several fronts.
