Childhood cancer survivor now returns the favor for others

For Issaquah native Abigail Houck, now 23, the news arrived in the summer following third grade: At the age of 9, she was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

And while it seems highly unlikely Houck will ever say being diagnosed with a childhood cancer was a good thing, it certainly has influenced her life.

Big Fish Grill donates $1,000 to Seattle Children’s

Carrie Orrico, owner of Big Fish Grill, presented a $1,000 check to Katie Fath, of the Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation, July 11.

The money was raised from a wine-tasting event held in the private dining room at The Big Fish Grill in Issaquah on June 24.

The event featured John Bigelow, of JM Cellars in Woodinville. Bigelow presented a select group of his wines to 28 attendees and shared stories about how he entered the wine business, the current wine culture and growing grapes in the state of Washington.
