A Bellevue Police officer charged with drunken driving on Interstate 90 near Issaquah has resigned from the department.
Officer Andrew Hanke resigned today, effective immediately.
“As we move forward, my hope is that we rebuild the public’s trust and continue our focus on the great work that the men and women of this department do every day,” Chief Linda Pillo said in a news release.

Bellevue Police Officer Andrew Hanke pleaded not guilty to DUI on Jan. 3 in Issaquah Municipal Court.
Hanke, who is suspended from the force, was charged with a DUI after a drunken driving incident on Interstate 90.

Issaquah will lead a DUI case against a Bellevue police officer.
Officer Andy Hanke was charged with driving under the influence Dec. 5.
Heading home eastbound on Interstate 90, Bellevue officer Doug Brennan spotted a Jeep driving at 73 miles per hour Nov. 20. The vehicle passed him, swerved in its lane and veered over to the side of the road. Brennan pulled the Jeep over and found Hanke, a fellow Bellevue officer, behind the wheel.
According to the police report submitted by Brennan, he quickly recognized Hanke’s inebriation.
