Big Fish Grill donates $1,000 to Seattle Children’s

Carrie Orrico, owner of Big Fish Grill, presented a $1,000 check to Katie Fath, of the Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation, July 11.

The money was raised from a wine-tasting event held in the private dining room at The Big Fish Grill in Issaquah on June 24.

The event featured John Bigelow, of JM Cellars in Woodinville. Bigelow presented a select group of his wines to 28 attendees and shared stories about how he entered the wine business, the current wine culture and growing grapes in the state of Washington.

Art goes outdoors for new weeklong festival

ArtEAST and the Issaquah Highlands Council have separately done their parts to support and enliven the local arts community. Now, the two groups have combined efforts to present the area’s first ever Art Outside festival.

The weeklong festival that started July 11. It combines five events from the two organizations and lasts through July 20. ArtEAST Executive Director Karen Abel said combining forces with the Issaquah Highlands Council for the festival is a match made in heaven.

“ArtEAST has always been about supporting artists getting involved with the community and the Highlands Council wanted a way to get the community involved with art at their annual festival,” Abel said.

Big Fish offers a fine seafood dining alternative

Yelp is no help.

The best way to discover a new restaurant, such as Big Fish Grill at Grand Ridge Plaza in the Issaquah Highlands, is to avoid the personal vendettas and experience it in person.

With locations also in Kirkland and Woodinville, Big Fish is still finding its footing in Issaquah (the website is still not up and running yet).

I popped in for a meal with a dining companion recently and enjoyed the experience. We arrived in the late afternoon, having missed the lunch crowd, too early for the dinner service. We almost had the side dining room and the entire wait staff to ourselves. So, you’ll have to discover for yourself how Big Fish operates at peak hours.
