Daniel Ernest Cruze, of Issaquah, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. He was 84 years old.
Mr. Cruze was born Oct. 16, 1927 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the son of Dan and Helen Cruze. He was raised in Nacogdoches and graduated from Nacogdoches High School. He also attended Texas A&M University.
Mr. Cruze served in the United States Army, where he completed Airborne training and made nine parachute jumps. He moved to Seattle in 1957 to join The Boeing Co., retiring in 1992 after a long career as a toolmaker, mechanic, draftsman and planner. He resided for many years in Bellevue.
Mr. Cruze was an avid pilot, receiving his commercial pilot’s license, flight instructor rating, instrument rating, seaplane rating and glider rating. He worked as a crop duster pilot in Arkansas and Mississippi, and flew as a jump pilot for Issaquah Sky Sports. He once had the opportunity through the Museum of Flight to fly a restored B-17 Bomber.
