Beaver and Pine lakes in Sammamish join several hundred lowland lakes — stocked with millions of fish — for fishing’s opening day April 25 for a six-month season.
Anglers must have a current Washington freshwater fishing license valid through March 31, 2016. Go fish — legally — without a license. Free Fishing Weekend is June 7-8.
During those days, no license will be required to fish or gather shellfish in any waters open to fishing in Washington state.

Washington’s biggest fishing day of the year — the lowland lakes trout opener — is April 26.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife plans to plant about 16.5 million trout and kokanee in hundreds of lakes.
Those fish include 2.3 million catchable trout, nearly 115,000 jumbo trout weighing up to 11 pounds each and more than 50,000 triploid trout averaging 11 1/2 pounds each.
