ArtEAST and the Issaquah Highlands Council have separately done their parts to support and enliven the local arts community. Now, the two groups have combined efforts to present the area’s first ever Art Outside festival.
The weeklong festival that started July 11. It combines five events from the two organizations and lasts through July 20. ArtEAST Executive Director Karen Abel said combining forces with the Issaquah Highlands Council for the festival is a match made in heaven.
“ArtEAST has always been about supporting artists getting involved with the community and the Highlands Council wanted a way to get the community involved with art at their annual festival,” Abel said.

The next Downtown Issaquah Association ArtWalk is tonight from 6-9 p.m.
Visitors are invited to meet local business owners, enjoy live music, watch artists in action, and shop and dine downtown.
ArtWalk features up 50 artists working their wares in such genres as jewelry, photography, paintings, glass and metal work, sculpture and books.

Who says 13 is unlucky?
The Downtown Issaquah Association’s annual ArtWalk returns June 6 for its 13th season, after having successfully transformed the city’s main corridor into the Eastside’s premier arts destination.
Karen Donovan, Downtown Issaquah Association executive director, said ArtWalk remains as popular as ever after 13 years.
“It’s just a great place for families to come down to check out the art and the live music, and kids activities with painting,” she said.

The 12th annual season of Issaquah ArtWalk continues from 6-9 p.m. Aug. 2.
ArtWalk is the first Friday of the month June through September. Visitors are invited to meet local business owners, enjoy live music, watch artists in action, shop and dine in downtown Issaquah.
This ArtWalk includes the opening of the Rookery art exhibition and artwork from summer teen camps at artEAST Art Center. Kids can enjoy animal-themed arts projects when Menagerie takes over in artEAST Artist Alley. Enjoy clay making at Museo Art Academy and printmaking in the park, compliments of Museo. Witness glassblowing at its finest by artbyfire. There will be dancing in the streets at artEAST Artist Alley when Blue Dog Dance in Renton brings its dance troupe to showcase some hip-hop talent.
