Eagles beat rival Spartans, 8-3

April 14, 2015

Both Issaquah and Skyline high school head baseball coaches are looking for signs of improvement in their young squads.

So for each, picking a win over their arch rival in KingCo Conference competition April 10 would be just what the doctor ordered.

It was the Eagles who completed their first two-game winning streak in conference action, culminating with an 8-3 win.

Young Eagles team off to rocky league start

March 31, 2015

The Issaquah High School baseball team has stumbled out of the starting gate to the 2015 league schedule with the cards stacked against them in the worst possible way.

After a 3-0 non-league win against Garfield to start the season, the Eagles have since been outscored 21-0. (Results of their game against Inglemoor Monday were unavailable before The Press’ deadline.)

By Greg Farrar Bryce Hughes, Issaquah High School sophomore, in the fifth inning after singling one of the Eagles’ four hits in the game, is the only player to reach second base March 27 after teammate Andy Co draws the only walk given up by Redmond senior pitcher Brendan Ecklebarger.

After scoring two early runs, the Issaquah Eagles had trouble getting more offensive production.

Trailing 3-2 in the fifth inning, though, Issaquah used some patient at-bats to draw walks and drive in runs. The Eagles pushed across two runs to take the lead, then added three insurance runs in the sixth for a 7-3 victory against the visiting Woodinville Falcons in a Class 4A KingCo Conference baseball game on April 18.

Good luck to opposing hitters trying to reach Issaquah High School’s outfield this year.

Opponents will find little wiggle room in an Eagles outfield that can compete with the best in the state.
