Boys golf  preview

Issaquah High School boys golf coach Tom Bakamus knew his team would have to play its best match of the season to beat Eastlake Sept. 16 at the Sahalee Country Club.

The Eagles had a solid effort, but Eastlake proved too strong as the host Wolves captured the 4A KingCo Conference match.

Eastlake won with 193 strokes to Issaquah’s 211. Issaquah had a four-match KingCo win streak snapped in the process.

Spencer Weiss, of Eastlake, was the medalist with a 1-over-par 37. Alex Ciszewski topped the Eagles with a 40.

Nevertheless, Issaquah’s young squad is off to a strong start. Six seniors graduated from last year’s team, and the Eagles lost another player who moved to Florida.

“We are inexperienced, but deep with the sophomore class,” Bakamus said. Read more
