District foes Liberty and Issaquah met on Renton’s Maplewood Golf Course for a nonleague contest April 2, and it was the Patriots who emerged victorious.

Liberty defeated Issaquah, 238-259, on a day when both teams were missing key players, Eagles coach Tom Bakamus said in an email.

Eagles send four golfers to state

The Issaquah High School golf team wrapped up its regular season in dominating fashion, winning both the KingCo League tournament and the district tournament at the Snohomish Golf Course last week.

The Eagles edged out Skyline, the only team they lost to during the regular season, head coach Tom Bakamus said.

Eagles eye state birth

The Issaquah High School boys golf team finished the season securely in third place, behind rivals Skyline and Eastlake, at 6-3.

Coach Tom Bakamus said that although the final match of the regular season against Bothell didn’t affect the team’s league standing in either direction, it was still a disappointing loss. The Eagles’ only other two losses came against league powerhouses first-place Spartans and second-place Wolves.

“We probably shouldn’t have lost against Bothell,” Bakamus said. “They’ve only got two wins this year. But they had one kid who shot a career round.”
