Demolition began Sept. 10 on the new residential project to be housed at Seventh Avenue Northwest and Northwest Gilman Boulevard.
There, 344 apartments in three five-story buildings will replace the strip mall and Lombardi’s restaurant that had been there for decades.
The project not only marks a change in that localized landscape, but for the whole of Issaquah as well.

Last year’s mayoral candidate Joe Forkner will go back to work for the city, joining 43 others appointed to various Issaquah governing bodies.
The City Council unanimously approved Mayor Fred Butler’s recommendations to appoint or reappoint a host of residents to most of the city’s 17 boards and commissions during its regular meeting April 21.
The annual appointments fill the vacancies expiring April 30. Most regular members serve four-year terms, while alternate members serve two-year terms.

After two public meetings, the Seventh and Gilman redevelopment continues through the city’s application stages and might go beyond expectations.
Lennar Multifamily Investors again presented plans to the Rivers and Streams Board on March 18 regarding how its planned residential redevelopment would handle floodwater. The corner of Seventh Avenue Northwest and Northwest Gilman Boulevard, now called Cadence by the potential developers, has a long history of suffering from flooding events and Lennar Multifamily Investors Development Director Tom Bartholomew knows it.
“Issaquah is unique in terms of flooding,” Bartholomew said after the meetings. “It’s an issue and I understand the sensitivity. I understand the visceral reactions to the meetings.”

A public meeting will allow citizens to express concerns about a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit for the redevelopment of Northwest Gilman Boulevard and Seventh Avenue Northwest on March 4.
Lennar Multifamily Communities submitted a site development application last month for a multifamily residential project called Seventh At Gilman at that location.
The project calls for building three five-story apartment buildings, which will house 343 residential units above below-ground parking on the 6-acre site. Issaquah Creek borders the property.
