Public is invited to three candidate forums

Residents will have up to three chances to hear from the five people running for the Issaquah City Council in November.

There are two contested council seats up for grabs in the Nov. 3 election. The council will have at least two new faces in 2016 as incumbent council members Joshua Schaer, Council Position 4, and Nina Milligan, Council Position 2, have chosen not to run for re-election. The Position 6 seat currently held by Council President Paul Winterstein also expires this year.

Questions needed for Issaquah candidate forum

Meet the residents vying for Issaquah City Council spots at a Sept. 30 candidate forum.

The event will feature questions submitted by Issaquah citizens. Candidates for Position Nos. 2, 4 and 6 are expected to attend. A representative from the League of Women Voters will moderate.

The forum is 7 p.m. Sept. 30 in the Issaquah City Council Chambers, 135 E. Sunset Way. It will be broadcast live on ICTV channel 21.

My vote will be cast to retain Paul Winterstein for Issaquah City Council. Paul has served the city of Issaquah well as council president. He is devoted to retaining the small-town charm we Issaquah residents love and many of us moved here for. That’s why Sunset Magazine voted us “Best Burb.”

Candidate filings force council race primaries

Local voters will help whittle down two crowded Issaquah City Council races in an August primary.

King County candidate filing week came to a close May 15 with a total of seven candidates vying for two spots on the Issaquah City Council.

Current Council President Paul Winterstein did file to retain his Position No. 6 spot, drawing three challengers along the way.

Another resident announces candidacy for City Council

A third resident has thrown her name into play for one of three expiring Issaquah City Council seats.

Jennifer Sutton, a commissioner on the Human Services Commission, has stated her intention to run for council Position 2.

Council approves annual appointments to city boards and commissions

May 27, 2014

Last year’s mayoral candidate Joe Forkner will go back to work for the city, joining 43 others appointed to various Issaquah governing bodies.

The City Council unanimously approved Mayor Fred Butler’s recommendations to appoint or reappoint a host of residents to most of the city’s 17 boards and commissions during its regular meeting April 21.

The annual appointments fill the vacancies expiring April 30. Most regular members serve four-year terms, while alternate members serve two-year terms.
