Pitching keys Lakeside Recovery to doubleheader sweep

A season that’s been defined by superb pitching got even better for Lakeside Recovery last week as the team returned to the friendly confines of Issaquah High School.

Pitchers Todd Reese and Jack Dellinger didn’t allow a run in Lakeside’s July 1 Senior American Legion doubleheader sweep of the visiting Evergreen Sports Center Tigers. Lakeside not only kept control of the Northwest League lead at 18-1, but added to its stellar defensive numbers this summer.

Lakeside Recovery’s complete effort nets seventh straight win

In pursuit of its seventh straight win, the Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team didn’t waste much time putting its opponent in a deep hole.

Bolstered by a five-run second inning, Lakeside Recovery went on to beat Juanita Boyz, 11-0, in a Northwest League game June 23 at Lee Johnson Field in Kirkland.

Lakeside Recovery continues hot start

The Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team kept rolling last week, and sits in first place in the Northwest Division after a five-game winning streak.

Lakeside Recovery — comprised of players at Issaquah, Skyline and Newport high schools — finished the week June 21 with a 3-1 victory over Bellevue-Phiten at Interlake High School in Bellevue. Lakeside improved its record to 15-5 overall, 14-1 in division play.

Its 2013 record is a gaudy one, but don’t be fooled: The Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team has had to win several close contests this season.

Lakeside Recovery stretched its record to 6-2 in one-run games, defeating Chaffey, 2-1, in a nonleague outing at Issaquah High School on July 17. But the team’s biggest win of the campaign might have come a day earlier, when it rallied for a 7-4 triumph in nine innings at Bellingham to capture the Northwest League title.
