  • Tickets: $18 general admission, $16 for youth and seniors

Lyceum Players stroll back to jolly ol’ England in ‘Mary Poppins’

Fans of the famous 1964 Walt Disney-produced “Mary Poppins” will have a lot to smile about if they attend Skyline High School’s upcoming production, but the student cast is trying to put their own spin on the familiar tale, too.

Skyline’s spring musical, under the direction of Hannah Fry, opens a four-night, five-show run April 29. The 35-member cast has a treasure trove of beloved songs to perform, such as “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” and “Feed the Birds (Tuppence a Bag).”

Skyline thespians present ‘Mary Poppins’

Skyline High School’s theater department completes its 2014-15 season with a performance of the classic tale “Mary Poppins” from April 29 to May 2.

Showtimes at Skyline’s Lyceum Theatre are 7 p.m. April 29 to May 1, and 2:30 and 7 p.m. May 2.

Now, 36 years later, Village Theatre will have audiences believing the same for a woman and her parasol in its musical production of “Mary Poppins.”

Village Theatre is transforming its stage with a complex flight system for the “Mary Poppins” run from Nov. 13 to Jan. 4.

‘Mary Poppins,’ ‘Cabaret’ headline Village Theatre’s 2014-15 season

March 4, 2014

Village Theatre continues its passion for creating art with a 2014-2015 season that includes the Bob Fosse classic “Cabaret,” the Disney family favorite “Mary Poppins,” the contemporary Broadway hit “In the Heights,” brand new musical comedy thriller “No Way to Treat a Lady” and a straight play based on the Jules Verne book “Around the World in 80 Days.”

Village Theatre’s own Steve Tomkins will direct “Mary Poppins” and “No Way to Treat a Lady.” The theater will welcome Eric Ankrim (director) and Daniel Cruz (choreographer) for “In the Heights.”

Earlier start times (7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday evenings) launched last season will continue, and four- and three-show subscription packages will be available for purchase just before and just after the holiday season.
