Pitching keys Lakeside Recovery to doubleheader sweep

A season that’s been defined by superb pitching got even better for Lakeside Recovery last week as the team returned to the friendly confines of Issaquah High School.

Pitchers Todd Reese and Jack Dellinger didn’t allow a run in Lakeside’s July 1 Senior American Legion doubleheader sweep of the visiting Evergreen Sports Center Tigers. Lakeside not only kept control of the Northwest League lead at 18-1, but added to its stellar defensive numbers this summer.

Issaquah baseball alum named junior college All-America

Mitchell Morimoto, a 2014 Issaquah High School graduate, was named a National Junior College Athletic Association second-team All-American for baseball.

Mitchell Morimoto, former Issaquah High School baseball player, hits the first of two home runs in one inning during his senior year in 2014 in a game against Sedro-Wooley.

Morimoto, who plays at Mesa Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, earned second-team All-America honors following his freshman season. He placed second on the team with a .393 batting average and 45 RBIs, and led the club with 21 doubles and seven triples.

Lakeside Recovery continues hot start

June 25, 2015

The Lakeside Recovery Senior American Legion baseball team kept rolling last week, and sits in first place in the Northwest Division after a five-game winning streak.

Lakeside Recovery — comprised of players at Issaquah, Skyline and Newport high schools — finished the week June 21 with a 3-1 victory over Bellevue-Phiten at Interlake High School in Bellevue. Lakeside improved its record to 15-5 overall, 14-1 in division play.

Issaquah, Skyline high school players make All-State team

July 15, 2014

Two local baseball players were named to the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association’s All-State team.

Mitchell Morimoto, an Issaquah High School outfielder, made the first team. The recently graduated senior also received first-team All-KingCo 4A honors earlier this summer.

Skyline High School pitcher Drew Lunde received second-team honors. Lunde, who also graduated in June, was previously named first-team All-KingCo 4A.

Issaquah uses timely hitting for 7-3 victory

After scoring two early runs, the Issaquah Eagles had trouble getting more offensive production.

Trailing 3-2 in the fifth inning, though, Issaquah used some patient at-bats to draw walks and drive in runs. The Eagles pushed across two runs to take the lead, then added three insurance runs in the sixth for a 7-3 victory against the visiting Woodinville Falcons in a Class 4A KingCo Conference baseball game on April 18.
