Amy Spens wins Bowdoin College honor
Amy Spens, of Issaquah, recently received the Bowdoin Theater and Dance Department’s 2015 William H. Moody ‘56 Award at the college’s Honors Day ceremony held May 6 at Bowdoin College, in Brunswick, Maine.
Spens is earning a major in anthropology and biology.

The Rotary Club of Issaquah recently honored the following seniors as its February 2014 Students of the Month:
- Liberty High School
- Recognition in music
- Plays Irish drum, sings, arranges music and directs a Celtic ensemble, learning bass drum
- Theater, screen writing, acting, active volunteer in church
- Maintains a 3.6 grade point average, taking Advanced Placement psychology, Honors physics, and College calculus
- Accepted at Northwest, Montana State and Eastern, pursuing degree in business and music or theater

William Shakespeare’s literary works have succeeded in confounding high school students for years.
Whether it’s the Elizabethan English or the iambic pentameter, the name Shakespeare and ease of comprehension generally do not go together.
That changes when his work is acted out on a stage, though, said Liberty senior Alison Fesler.
