For expert paddlers or those looking to try sea kayaking or stand-up paddling for the first time, the fifth annual Northwest Paddling Festival is the place to be to get started for a summer on the water.
The festival, the largest of its kind in the Northwest, will be May 8-9 at Lake Sammamish State Park. The hours are from 2-7 p.m. May 8, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 9.
During the course of the two-day celebration of paddle sports, attendees can demo boats, take kayak tours, attend seminars and check out the latest in gear and accessories from more than 60 paddle sports businesses.

For a single day in May, Lake Sammamish will become the elite destination for the region’s paddle-sports enthusiasts when it hosts the third annual Northwest Paddling Festival.
Experienced kayakers and stand-up paddleboarders will descend on Issaquah to celebrate all-things paddle sports, with a daylong festival May 11.
The event will feature paddling industry vendors, product demonstrations, kayak tours, stand-up paddleboarding lessons and a 6-mile paddle-craft race.
