Regal Issaquah 9 Theatres to close, be remodeled for adult dining/movie theater

Opening of the new Regal Issaquah Highlands 12 theater will lead to a closing, remodeling and renaming of the Pickering Place location.

According to applications filed with the city Development Services Departmentt, the Regal Issaquah 9 Theatres will be remodeled into a Cinebarre.

“Cinebarre did submit an application a few weeks back,” Issaquah Project Oversight Manager Christopher Wright said about the location. “Plan reveiwer comments are due at the end of this week and I would say that they are two to four weeks out from getting their tenant improvement building permit.”

Regal Cinemas hiring for new Issaquah Highlands location

In anticipation of the official grand opening July 2, the new Regal Cinema 12 theater in the Highlands is hiring.

Advertising online and in the existing Pickering Place theater, the Regal Entertainment Groups are looking for floor staff as well a part-time associate manager.

Ushers, concessionists and box office tenders are among the staffers sought by the newly constructed theaters. Responsibilities in the job description include customer service, cash handling, phone etiquette, knowledge and enforcement of the MPAA ratings system.

Regal Cinemas will open June 29 as the first completed highlands project in Grand Ridge Plaza.

Regal Entertainment Group has announced that the new theater complex would be unveiled with grand opening and preview events.

Preview events will occur from June 29 through July 1 and will include three days of $2 movies, which will benefit local charities under specific themes, according to a press release.

Issaquah Highlands retail lineup adds coffee, liquor

The latest announced tenants for the long-planned Issaquah Highlands retail center, Grand Ridge Plaza, offer shoppers a chance to catch a buzz — spirits at BevMo! and coffee at Starbucks.

The recent additions to the $70 million highlands project add recognizable names alongside the Regal Cinemas multiplex, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Marshalls and HomeGoods, and Safeway.

The project developer, Regency Centers, estimated for offerings to open starting in the summer and fall. Expect the movie theater and some restaurants to open initially.

BevMo! — a chain based in Concord, Calif. — intends to expand to Issaquah after opening outposts in Bellevue and elsewhere in the Puget Sound region after the state privatized liquor sales in June 2012.

Wells Fargo is latest Issaquah Highlands tenant

Wells Fargo is the latest announced tenant for the long-planned Issaquah Highlands retail center, Grand Ridge Plaza.

San Francisco-based Wells Fargo plans to open a 2,600-square-foot branch at Highlands Drive Northeast and Northeast Federal Drive by September.

Customers can expect to see “green” features in the business, such as energy efficient light fixtures, water-saving plumbing fixtures, and sustainably grown and harvested wood materials.

The company also announced plans to open 15 to 20 outposts throughout the Puget Sound region in the next five years.

Sammamish pet store moves to Issaquah Highlands

Sammamish pet store Civilized Nature plans to move to the Issaquah Highlands retail center, Grand Ridge Plaza, by August.

Civilized Nature owner D’Arcy Dent has been looking for a new space after learning that Petco would be moving close to its existing location in the Sammamish Highlands retail center.

The developer of Grand Ridge Plaza, Florida-based Regency Centers, is also the owner of Sammamish Highlands.

Expect Grand Ridge Plaza’s initial offerings — Regal Cinemas and some restaurants — to open at about the same time in the spring.
