Cougar Mountain trail runs wrap up

The fourth and final event of this summer’s Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series was held Aug. 8 at Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park near Issaquah.

Listed below are results in the men’s and women’s divisions at 3.12, 14.5 and 26.2 miles:

3.12 miles

March 7 Lake Sammamish Half Marathon registration filling fast

Registration is filling fast for the March 7 Lake Sammamish Half Marathon.

The half marathon takes runners along the smooth trail that connects Marymoor Park in Redmond to Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah. About 30 percent of the course will be on smooth gravel surface and the remaining 70 percent on pavement.

Cyclocross comes to Lake Sammamish

MFG Cyclocross presents its second leg of its Cyclocross series at Lake Sammamish State Park Sept. 29. The race is a combination of off-road bicycling and running hurdles.

Pre-register by 5 p.m. Sept. 27 online at for a $5 discount. Day-of-race registration is available.

Adults are $30, beginners are $15, children 10 and older are $10, and children younger than 10 are free. There is a cash prize of $80 for first place, $60 for second and $40 for third. The race is part of a five-part series.

Nine locals ran in Boston Marathon

Two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon at 2:50 EST on April 15, reportedly killing three and injuring more than 100.

Nine entrants in the race listed Issaquah as their city of residence: Mike Bates, Sumanth R. Donthi, Shannon Harrison, Brian E. Maher, Sue Maybee, Ashley C. Mehrens, Rebecca M. Tollefson, Shelby J. Tueffers and Leslie Vona.
