Ava Frisinger earns Kees Environmental Award

Ava Frisinger is the recipient of the 2015 Ruth Kees Environmental Award — the community’s highest honor for environmental advocates — and the Issaquah Highlands Community Association is the first Community Environmental Award honoree.

Snoqualmie Tribe becomes Salmon Days Title Spawnsor

September 23, 2014

Earlier this year, the Salmon Days Festival was in need of a new Title Spawnsor. As one of the largest events in the state, we knew it wouldn’t be difficult to attract a large corporation that wanted the exposure, but our ideal partner was a local organization that shared our love and support of salmon.

Issaquah Creek watershed

Thanks to the city for its diligence and commitment to salmon recovery

The Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery want to pass along our congratulations and appreciation to staff with the city of Issaquah for outstanding work representing the city in the most recent WRIA 8 2014 Watershed Management Grant Program.

Out of 15 proposals submitted, nine were selected for site-specific restoration and acquisition projects. Of those nine, four were city of Issaquah proposals. Of the $1,520,273 available for distribution, the funding designated for Issaquah’s projects was $490,000.

FISH hosts Public Officials Day Sept. 25; public is invited

NEW — 6 a.m. Sept. 21, 2013

The Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery is hosting a special event to educate local elected leaders and the public about the importance of the hatchery and salmon conservation.

Officials from the area have been invited to a special presentation at 2 p.m. Sept. 25. FISH’s board of directors has invited City Council members, school district directors, water district commissioners, Metropolitan King County Council members, and state lawmakers from cities and districts that surround Lake Sammamish.
