Bulldogs football fills a niche for players without a program

It’s a warm evening at Bellevue High School’s stadium, and a couple dozen players have donned pads, helmets and jerseys to practice tackling and blocking, and running offensive and defensive schemes.

They’re not members of Bellevue High’s nationally renowned program, which has captured 11 of the past 14 state championships. They’re young men who, for various reasons, aren’t playing college football but are looking to attract attention from coaches at that level.

Trails club announces scholarship opportunity

April 14, 2015

The Issaquah Alps Trails Club annually sponsors the Bill Longwell Memorial Scholarship, available to this year’s graduating seniors at Hazen, Issaquah, Skyline and Liberty high schools.

The top prize is a $1,000 scholarship, with second place getting $500 and third place receiving $250. The deadline is May 1.

Cascade Mountain Men offer scholarship

The Cascade Mountain Men are offering a $500 scholarship to students who submit a winning design to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2014.

The Cascade Mountain Men are a traditional black powder muzzle-loading gun club affiliated with the Issaquah Sportsmen’s Club. The club encourages and advances organized shooting, especially of muzzle-loading fire arms; promotes higher standards of sportsmanship and safety among those who participate in such sports; and perpetuates the dress, equipment and heritage of their forefathers.
