Many people made Relay for Life a success
On May 9, our community took to the track at Issaquah High School for Issaquah’s 2015 Relay For Life. For 20 hours, we celebrated cancer survivors, remembered those no longer with us and learned about how we can continue to fight back against cancer. This year’s Relay For Life was an outstanding event, made possible by everyone involved.

More than 750 people will descend on Issaquah High School this weekend to take up arms against a nasty, unforgiving foe.
The fight against cancer comes to Issaquah on May 9-10 in the form of Relay For Life, an American Cancer Society fundraiser that backs the nonprofit’s mission to create a world without the disease.

Issaquah resident Stacy Strickland can remember the immediate bond she felt with Karen Conley the morning they met at Relay for Life on the track behind Issaquah High School.
The women were both at the school in response to an article in The Issaquah Press that described the need for additional help at the annual fundraiser that raises money to fight cancer.

It may be too late to sign up a new team, but the invitation remains open to the public to join in on all the fun at the annual Relay For Life this Memorial Day weekend.
Mayor Fred Butler will kick off the event at noon May 31, setting in motion 767 participants on 93 teams circling the track at Issaquah High School, raising funds for cancer research.
“We have passed our goal of 90 teams and are well on our way to our goal of raising $300,000 for the American Cancer Society,” said event chairwoman Stacy Strickland. “We are currently pacing ahead of this time last year, so we are confident that our Issaquah community will help us reach our goal.”
