Whether the Liberty High School baseball team liked it or not, the label “underdog” was slapped on the Patriots from the moment they qualified for the Class 2A state tournament.
It stemmed from a cursory peek at their record — it was below .500 — and continued with a look at their regular-season standings, as they finished seventh out of eight teams in the 3A/2A KingCo Conference.

San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum threw his second-career no-hitter June 25, defeating the San Diego Padres, 4-0.

After seven years in Major League Baseball, Liberty High School product Tim Lincecum has accumulated his fair share of accolades.

If all goes according to plan, Tim Lincecum, former Liberty High School and University of Washington star and current San Francisco Giant, will face the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field for the first time in his career.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner is having struggles this year, posting a 6.00 earned run average, along with a 2-7 record in his first 13 starts.

I kind of know how Bill Gates must have felt when he made his first million. When I joined The Issaquah Press news staff May 22, 2000, I struck it rich, too!
Five days after being hired at The Press I covered my first Issaquah School District state championship team. Actually, it was inevitable that an Issaquah team would win when Issaquah and Skyline met for the 3A state baseball title in Tacoma’s Cheney Stadium. Issaquah won 5-3.

“The Bachelor” Ben Flajnik visited John and Margy Cox, parents of Lindzi Cox, at their home in Morriston, Fla., months ago, possibly right around Lindzi’s 27th birthday in late October. But the episode aired Feb. 20.
Previews of that episode showed Lindzi, of Issaquah, and Ben picnicking beneath a shady tree beside a horse pasture and driving a competition wagon with Ben on the back seat.

The Ocala area goes primetime Monday when “The Bachelor” Ben Flajnik visits the parents here of one of the four remaining women in the hunt for his heart.
Actually, his visit with John and Margy Cox, parents of Lindzi Cox, at their home in Morriston, Fla., occurred months ago, possibly right around Lindzi’s 27th birthday in late October. But the episode is being aired at 8 p.m. Monday on ABC.
Previews of Monday’s episode show Lindzi and Ben picnicking beneath a shady tree beside a horse pasture and driving a competition wagon with Ben on the back seat.
ABC’s media website offered advance photos of Ben’s dates this week with the other three women, but there were none available of the Ocala, Fla., trip — because of “production scheduling.”
