Cougar Mountain trail runs continue June 13

The 13th annual SCOTT Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series continues June 13 with a variety of races at Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park near Issaquah.

Runners can choose from 5-kilometer, 8.2-mile or 14.5-mile distances along the park’s backcountry trail network. The runs start at 9 a.m.

Church has big goals for low-key Run with Faith

Race coordinator Douglas Nast certainly knows there is room for growth in Issaquah Christian Church’s annual Run with Faith for the benefit of Compassion House.

In fact, as runners can receive awards in various age categories, he jokes that one year, nearly every runner in the race received a medal of some kind. If you are out to get your name into a record book somewhere, this might be your chance, Nast added.

“Our course records are pretty modest,” he said.

Grand Ridge Trail run is set for Aug. 2

The Balanced Athlete, at The Landing in Renton, will sponsor the race.

Runners will have plenty of route options as they traverse Grand Ridge Park for a trail run Aug. 2.

Athletes can choose to run 5 miles, a half-marathon (13.1 miles), a marathon (26.2 miles) or a 50K (31.2 miles), through the wooded trails of the Grand Ridge backcountry.

Aid stations will be stocked with water, fruit, sandwiches, crackers and more. Food is also available at the finish line.

The run starts and ends at the Grand Ridge Trailhead, 27000 S.E. 79th St., Issaquah. Check-in starts at 7 a.m. Registration fees range from $35 to $58. Register online at www.evergreentrailruns.com/8-2-grand-ridge-trail-run. Participants can register in-person on the day of the race, if it is not sold out yet, but an additional $10 day-of fee applies.
