Issaquah Trophy & Awards has selected Heroes for the Homeless as its latest Awards for a Cause recipient.
If a customer purchases select awards on the Issaquah Trophy & Awards website, www.issaquahtrophy.com, a portion of proceeds goes to Heroes for the Homeless.
Heroes for the Homeless serves up to 700 people every month by providing food and water, hygiene supplies, clothing, tents and sleeping bags, and information about how to access social services.

Mora, a former Seattle Seahawks coach, created the foundation to support children in need — primarily children from low socioeconomic backgrounds, mentally or physically challenged children, and children at risk.

Issaquah Trophy & Awards has selected the Susan G. Komen 3-Day as its recipient for its Awards for a Cause program during the third quarter of 2012.
Komen is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. The organization has invested more than $1.9 billion to fulfill its promise.

Issaquah resident honored
Lisa Whatley, of Issaquah, was recently awarded the Nancy Danoff, MD, Spirit of Service Award at the Breastfeeding Coalition of Washington’s annual awards presentation in Lacey.
The award recognizes individuals who promote, protect and support breastfeeding as a vital part of the health and development of children and families.
Whatley is a registered nurse and International Board Certified lactation consultant at Evergreen Healthcare, in Kirkland, and is also a private practice lactation consultant providing home visits in the community.

Renee Chaffin serves as Senate page
Renee Chaffin, a sophomore at Skyline High School in Sammamish, recently participated in the Senate Page Program during the third week of the 2012 session. Chaffin was sponsored by Sen. Cheryl Pflug (R-Maple Valley).
The Senate Page Program is an opportunity for Washington students to get firsthand experience working in the Legislature. Pages get a variety of experiences in their weeklong stay in Olympia, including running errands, delivering mail and paging in the Senate Chamber. Pages are also taught about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process.
Chaffin was one of 17 students chosen to participate last week.
“Renee was a delight this week,” Pflug said. “I am grateful for her passion, and it was exciting to see her passion for government.”
