Music videos are a form of storytelling, and four Skyline High School students decided to weave a story of their own around a well-known song.
Students Damian Banki, Jeremy Millar, Langston Nichols and Andrea Gomez acted in, filmed and edited a three-minute, 46-second video set to the background of Coldplay’s “Paradise.”
Their work was recently nominated for a student Emmy Award by the Northwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Their adaptation of “Paradise” is one of six nominations in the music video category, and they’ll have a chance to win the award at the 51st annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards on June 7 in Seattle.

Thanks to the village for honoring veterans
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, I can tell you it also takes a village to put out the annual Lest We Forget section honoring our annual veterans.
This year’s section is the fifth one we’ve done, and it’s bigger and better than ever.
We were able to write stories about three local World War II veterans and two Vietnam veterans, the most stories we’ve ever done for the section.

The Issaquah Press is proud to announce it will print its fifth annual veterans section — Lest We Forget — in the May 21 paper, in time for Memorial Day.
Veterans, we want your photos and information, whether you served in a war or during peacetime. If someone in your family was a veteran, but he or she has passed away, we still want to include him or her.

Where to begin talking about what Rory Dunn has been through since he was wounded that day in Fallujah? His best friend, who bled out next to him? His traumatic brain injury that has altered his personality? His forehead held together by a plastic prosthetic?
It’s hard to know where to begin, so Issaquah’s Dr. Theresa Cheng concerns herself with what she knows best as a dentist: his teeth.
In the nine years since his unarmored Humvee in Iraq was hit by explosives on his 22nd birthday, Dunn has been making a long, hard recovery. His mother, Cynthia Lefever, has been by his side the whole time — sleeping next to her then-comatose son at Walter Reed Army National Military Medical Center and later traveling the country to advocate for veteran care.

B-25 gunner Ed McKee kept the skies clear on WWII European bombing missions
In 1937, Ed McKee was a sophomore in high school, with not enough spending money in his pockets to spread around his hometown of Albany, Ore.
Just seven years later, how he chose to augment his income would eventually take him over the skies of Europe on bombing raids of Axis targets.

This year, again for Memorial Day, The Issaquah Press will print its fourth annual veterans section — Lest We Forget.
We want your photos and information, veterans. If someone in your family was a veteran, but he or she has passed away, we still want to include him or her. It is important for us to honor and remember all local veterans, living or deceased.
