Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery presents Elected Officials Day to learn about how climate change is impacting salmon and local watersheds.
The free event is from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Watershed Science Center, 125 W. Sunset Way. Elected Officials Day promotes awareness of FISH, the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery and the watershed to our local, regional and state officials.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission wants the public to know that Monday, Aug. 25, is a state parks “free day.”
Day-use visitors will not need a Discover Pass to visit state parks, including Lake Sammamish State Park and Squak Mountain State Park locally.
The free day is in honor of the birthday of the National Park Service, which was established Aug. 25, 1916.

The police department and community will come together for a night of learning, food and fun Aug. 6 during Issaquah’s fifth annual National Night Out.
The National Night Out is an event hosted by many cities across the country. Its purpose is to raise awareness of emergency preparation, criminal activity, theft prevention, and to help strengthen the relationship between communities and their police departments.
Issaquah will host the event at City Hall. There are a variety of activities and services, and organizations to talk to, all of which are focused on promoting safety and offering advice and help to those who need it.
