The Washington State Fair presents the “Oh Say Can You Sing” contest where the winner gets to sing the national anthem as an opening for such acts as Keith Urban or “Weird Al” Yankovic.
Video entries are due by March 2.
Vocal and instrumental entries will be accepted. Video entries can be uploaded on YouTube or submitted by mail. See outline of the contest rules and procedures, plus complete lyrics of the first verse of “The Star Spangled Banner” at www.thefair.com/contests/details/o-say-can-you-sing. No entry fee is required.

Caron Fisher, of Renton, won second place and $50 for her Peach Cobbler Coffee Cake in the Dillanos Quick Bread Coffee Cake Contest

Kelly Wohlwend, of Issaquah, received two awards at the photography exhibition. She won judge’s choice for her piece “Hawk Eye,” in the Animals division, and an honorable mention award for her piece “Shrinking Doorways,” in the Elements of Design division.
Gloria Pritchett, of Issaquah, won first place in the Clothing-Embellishments division of the Home Arts Textile competition.
