One of the biggest changes out of many here at The Issaquah Press since your friendly staff photographer signed on 18 years ago has been in how we make and use the images in our newspaper and on our website.
What most may already know but gives me great pleasure to point out as a reminder is how many photo galleries you can browse through with the click of a mouse or the swipe of a finger at www.issaquahpress.com/category/photogallery and the other newspapers we publish — Sammamish Review, SnoValley Star and Newcastle News.

At some point recently, the Issaquah Highlands became a place that people would actually want to go to. I don’t really know what happened.
Whenever I thought of the highlands, I thought of an ugly place. The main image that came to mind was a neat grid of streets, with nothing but flat wasteland separating them. Farther up the hill was a huge neighborhood of houses that were eerily similar and spaced too close together.

In 2009, citizens dining in downtown Issaquah spotted a handful of zombies shambling down Front Street. Since then, the group founded by Tom Gotuzzo has grown into a horde and added a few dance moves to the annual event.
The fourth annual Zombie Walk returns to Issaquah from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Karen Donovan, Downtown Issaquah Association executive director, said all ages of creepers are invited to join the horde.
Become a member of the zombie horde by meeting at the Hailstone Feed Store, 232 Front St. N. Come already dressed or get help being made up and join in on a practice run through of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance moves.
